Dog vs. Cat

Cat is the assumed winner.

My poor little Libby came across a cat in our backyard landscaping. I heard the fight but did not witness it. I doctored her up and she's resting.
I'm back from my trip. I'll get caught up with you all soon and post about my trip after I go thru the colossal stack of stuff aka the mail and the laundry.

"Lettuce" Eat

I am so proud of my lettuce. I started this lettuce from seed back in October in my garage under a florescent light. I moved four plants into a flowerbed in December. This is some tough lettuce. We've had several nights with freezing temperatures and this lettuce is fine. I clipped some off of another plant that you can't see in this picture and ate it with my sandwich for lunch.

Here is a picture of the seedlings and how I got them started. I also planted beans, but not nearly enough. I definitely learned I need to plant bunches of those.
I used toilet paper rolls that were cut in half then folded up at the bottom to start the seeds. When they are ready to go in the ground you can plant the container along with the plant.

When I went outside to take my lettuce picture, I figured Libby would jump off her couch and join me. But she decided to continue with her twenty hour nap. As you can see I have a pink blanket and an old pink pillow for her on the couch. She manages to find her way off of the blanket and on to the couch cushion. She snuggled herself up under some pillows that are suppose to be propped up all pretty but that never happens anymore. She gets them the way she wants them. Boy she needs a bath.

After Moms In Touch I went to Sherwin Williams today and picked up some white paint to touch up the trim inside our house. Hopefully they mixed the right white. I'll know this weekend. Our nights are in the 30's here and the days in the high sixties. Beautiful clear blue sky. We need some rain. Just a few things going on in my little corner of the world.

Givinya poses this comment and question on the "Under Renovation" post:

Thanks for asking about an updated picture to go along with my new blog look.

Actually, I'm starting to resemble Libby more and more these days. Our hair color is almost identical now. I have to trim her beard and mine occasionally....

Keep in mind I "resemble" not "mimic"Libby. I do try and keep from sniffing others when we meet. And the licking thing.... I don't even want to think about it.

If I only had eyelashes like her. She has amazing long, dark eyelashes. People that see her always comment on them.
Because of her picture, we've made quite a few Miniature Schnauzer friends around the world. So that part has been fun.

We'll see what I can come up with. Thanks again for asking.

2008 Christmas Highlights

Here are some highlights of our Christmas Season this year.

We went to the Christmas Eve Candlelight Service at our Church.

Leah was busy with Christmas Crafts, making cookies for Santa and helping bake the cookies for the tins we gave to our neighbors. She also made a Gingerbread House at a friend's birthday party.

We spent time just relaxing and reading...

Plenty of Love and Hugs for everyone (including Libby).

Paige got a Sock Monkey for Christmas...Buster got socks for Christmas. This is his imitation of Sock Monkey using his new black socks.

We feel so blessed to have a loving family and so happy that both sets of grandparents came to spend Christmas with us. We had a great time together.

Libby

I've been wanting to write a post on Libby for some time now. We got Libby in September - 4 years ago. So I guess on her 4th "gotcha" year, I'll showcase the fourlegged member of our family.
Libby is a rescue dog. I went to the adoption center to see a dog that was advertised. I got there and wasn't excited about that particular dog. My friend who went with me pointed out Libby. I thought she was pretty cute, but wasn't familiar with Schnauzers. At that time I had not had a dog in nearly 30 years. So this was a big step for me. You notice I keep using "I" and "me". Buster was in Mexico on business when I made this visit to Doggy Adoption Day. When he called home, I ran the idea past him. He was not quite on board with the idea. He just said "wait till I get home and we'll talk about it". So technically I did wait until he got home. When he arrived home from Mexico, I did not have Libby yet. BUT I did have dog food and dish, leash, collar, Libby I.D. tag, crate, dog toys etc. Since I had already invested in a dog I did not yet own, he went with me to the adoption center to take a look at her and signed off on her. Since this was an adoption all the adults in the household had to sign for her. She was spayed the next day and I picked her up a couple of days later.

So enjoy the pictures of Libby and check out your local doggy adoption center. You might find a loyal, four-legged friend there.

This was the day we brought Libby home back in Sept. 2004. I love this picture because she looks like she has a smile on her face. Sorry I could not get this image to download larger.

"My Three Girls"

Libby and her cousins-

Furby, Jazzie and Sugar.

Libby and her friend Logan.

As you can see Libby has a pretty stinkin' good nice life now. She has taken over our formal living room. I now call it "Libby's Condo". It definitely beats the streets where she was found wandering. Love and Licks from Libby and...
