The Mom Fieldtrip

School is almost out here in our little corner of the world. So last week I invited a friend to go with me to Mercer Arboretum for a mom fieldtrip before school is out. Mercer Arboretum is a gardeners paradise. You get all kinds of inspiration and just soak in the beauty all around you.
I know I post a lot of pictures of flowers and gardens on my blog. I just can't help it. I love visiting gardens then I enjoy them so much I want to share them with all my friends.

Please take a minute to view some flora and fauna and enjoy your
short tour of Mercer Arboretum, Spring, Texas:

I believe you can click to enlarge most of these.
They are so much prettier that way.

This sundial has a sweet little gardening poem.
Not so sure about how doctrinally sound it is, but nonetheless it is quite pretty.

Beautiful paths to wind through:

The day lilly gardens:

This plant is called The Star of Texas:

Couldn't help but watch these lovebirds enjoying their brunch together.

Aren't the caladiums beautiful climbing this hill
beside the steps:

I took over 50 pictures that day. I won't post them all. I want you to come back and visit me. :)
I've been to the Arboretum a few times before. It has changed since my last visit. Hurricane Ike did a lot damage to the gardens so they are restoring a few areas. It is still one of the most beautiful places in the Houston area.
Happy June,

Breathtaking! I know you had a wonderful, peaceful time! We have an arboretum across town that we rarely get to--this makes me think we should head over there.

What a delightful garden and I love the idea of a Mom fieldtrip. Wish I'd had several more stashes of fabric so I could have sent all of you some :o) Thanks for entering my drawing.

You and Tracy P. have some beautiful flower posts today! They are beautiful. My favorite was the caladeums. I actually grew some of those one time - they were one thing I didn't kill. I told Tracy if her flowers were in my yard they'd be doomsville. No green thumb here :o(

Oh, I meant to tell you how much I love the "mom fieldtrip" idea, too. I should have thought of that!

What a beautiful blog you have here! I love all of the flowers you have posted. Your little schnauzer is just adorable. Our Charli is very happy to meet a new friend ♥ I will be back to visit again soon. Blessings to you and your family.

Beautiful, Joy... I love the Caladiums the most. I can't get them to grow up here. It's too cool.

I'm sure it won't be long until all of the gardens are back to normal. BUT--what you saw and showed us is gorgeous!!!!

Thanks!
Hugs,
Betsy

I often get carried away with my camera as well. These are great pics though. Nice to have a little mommy time before the kids get out of school.

Just gorgeous! I smiled at the gardening poem - like you I'm not too sure how doctrinally sound it is, but I am sure that my in-laws would think it's from scripture somewhere! (I think they expect to be in the front row at heaven because they garden! Ah, sigh, gotta love them.)

Joy, You did a wonderful job posting the beautiful plants and flowers we enjoyed together on our "Mom's Fieldtrip." We will need to do something similar again soon! I loved the Caladeums. You really captured their beauty!

I need to find a place like that here and just go and take a book. I love taking in my surroundings while I read.

What a great idea . . . a mom field trip. Must try that myself. The arboretum is gorgeous! Thanks for stopping by my blog and visiting the goats with me!! I understand the concept of "closet" goat lover!

I remember when I was little...I would visit this beautiful garden as often as I was allowed to... it was just so beautiful...all the flowers and the low-hanging trees...the streams...the birds...I felt "lost" -but in a good way. :)
