Last night Leah's school hosted Geography Night for 100 5th and 6th graders who signed up to take a walk across Asia. The school brought in this huge National Geographic floor map of Asia. We went to 8 different regions of the map and learned so much. All I could think of was my blogger friends. We had an overview of Mongolia and I thought of
Daja. Then The Philippines ~ Hi
Charity.
Here are a few snapshots from the night:
Students from the High School's Council of International Affairs were the host of each station and shared information on the culture, religion, forms of government and demographics of different countries in Asia.
This is for you Charity:
This is for you Uncle Ron:
It was a fun way to learn and really be hands on or "feet" on and experience Geography in a different way. From what I understand National Geographic has 3 of these maps....Asia, Africa and The United States. But I think the best way to learn Geography is to start blogging!

I love that map!
What a wonderful way to educate! Visually it sticks much better! Thanks for sharing that idea!
What a neat way to learn Geography, Joy... Those kids will remember the countries so much more than I did when I had to learn them OODLES of years ago--the old-fashioned way...
Hugs,
Betsy
Wow, I've never seen a map so big. How interesting.
what a great way to see the world...
So cool and great pictures! I agree, blogging makes the world so much smaller.
It's the best way to learn...using sensory techniques. Now I could learn a lot with this map. Wish they would have used that back in my day.
what a great way to learn geography. it sounds like a lot of fun.
What fun!!! It's always so great to combine learning and fun together. I just love that HUGE map! I could have used one of those when I was homeschooling! lol
Take care and God bless - Julie
This is so cool. I will have to pass this info. on.
I think that it's amazing how we can be out doing something, at a gathering of some sort, with a lot of people around, and we are there in the middle of it all, but then we are thinking about our dear, dear, dear friends far off away, whom we know so closely from bloggy land!
I think that FaceBook and blogger is the equivalent in this century to the invention of the telephone in it's respective century. Something which amazed the human race so much, something that was so new, and we never can even imagine living without, now!
I think that FaceBook and blogger are things that have revolutionized the way that we meet people, how we keep relationships and friendships with these people.
It's just spectacular, really!
I often think of you too, Joy!
I am touched. Thank you so much for mentioning me here, and thinking of me!
I love you, my Joy Joy!
Love,
C
