This morning Paige called me to the back window and we watched two hummingbirds at our feeder. . .Do you see it?? Kind of above the feeder and to the left. He looks like a sweet, innocent hummingbird, but I wish my picture-taking abilities weren't so poor so you could see the rest of the story.
It took a minute to realize that we had a hummingbird bully in our midst. He was being quite territorial and not letting the other hummingbird have a sip of the syrupy, sugary, red-koolaid looking stuff in the feeder. I wanted to yell at it and say
"Hey!! Mr. Flutterbritches! Who do you think you are!! We share around this house!!! You better let your hummingbird friend have something to eat too!!!!
Then I remembered I just purchased the book Scream Free Parenting by Hal Runkel and that wouldn't be the "cool" parenting thing to do. I kind of felt like it's momma because I am providing nourishment for it in the form of a sugary snack which is what I do with my 2 legged children; and technically I haven't read the book yet, only the intro so I could yell. I told Buster a.k.a. husband that I was going to read this book. He thought it would take all the fun out of parenting if we couldn't yell.
~Sigh~

Thanks for stopping by :)
I love the fact that you called that bird Mr. Flutterbritches! I also love the fact that your hubby said it would take all the fun out of parenting if you couldn't yell :)
Hi, Neighbor! Thanks for stopping by via BATW. We have some bully hummingbirds, too. They're noisy little devils!

Hi Joy! Thanks for your sweet comment about me being an encourager. I do think that is my gift and I am always taken aback when I receive the same lovin in return. I don't know why. I just am.
I just read your post below. I know nothing, nada, zippee about HTML. That's why I have Darcy. She did my personal blog, THIS IS THE LIFE and the BATW layout. She works magic...Or you can go to The Cutest Blog on the block at www.thecutestblogontheblock.com/ and download a free layout if you want.
Thanks again...and keep at it. I thought this post about the bully hummingbird was FUNNY!
lol! Love this post :) Thanks for stopping by my blog yesterday. You gave me a smile! I like the way you think. I too carry my canvas bags and recycle. Just trying to do my part.
Oh, and thank you (about my blog background) I just had a makeover. And I'm loving the bright colors too! ;)
Howdy fellow Texan! Thanks for coming by and giving support last Wed. I think I was in the middle of a comment here when my network connection died :(
Anyhow, just wanted to circle back to your blog and say thanks!
BTW, I went hiking in Sedona in Fall 1995 (more than decade ago,I can't believe it!) and it is sooooo pretty - your pictures captures its essence.
oh btw, why are those hummingbirds brown? According to the internet (yeah, everything in the internet is true :( ) and the bird books, they're supposed to be nicely colored - greens, fuschias, etc. What's up with that?
Thanks for stopping by via BATW the other day. Funny that you saw Richard Simmons. I don't think he has any other outfits other than that ridiculous one he wears. :)
Aren't hummingbirds the best. Too bad you have a greedy gut. They are so lovely to watch. Thanks for stopping by my blog for BATW.
Hi Joy, I hope you don't need to evacuate because of Ike!
Anyway, take care!
