Getting Back to Basics

I have been blessed to be a part of a Precepts Bible Study this Fall. I went to www.precept.org and found this note from Kay Arthur this morning. I wanted to share it with you in light of this election.

Our country has changed—now, are we headed for revival or judgment? You could be part of God’s sovereign plan for the United States of America. Join Kay Arthur and thousands of believers across our nation who are taking up the spiritual battle by getting active. Active in repentance. Active in getting back to the Truth of God’s Word. Active in reaching out to a country that needs truth, love and redemption more than ever.
Kay Arthur

This is the time for Christians to truly be Christ-followers. Our commitment to God does not change with election cycles. Let's get back to the basics of prayer, Bible Study and sharing God's love with others.

Remember......

You are the ones chosen by God, chosen for the high calling of priestly work, chosen to be a holy people, God's instruments to do His work and speak out for Him to tell others of the night-and-day difference He made for you - from nothing to something, from rejected to accepted. Friends, this world is not your home, so don't make yourselves cozy in it. Don't indulge your ego at the expense of your soul. Live an exemplary life among the natives so that your actions will refute their prejudices. Then they'll be won over to God's side and be there to join in the celebration when He arrives.

Make the Master proud of you by being good citizens. Respect the authorities, whatever their level; they are God's emissaries for keeping order. It is God's will that by doing good, you might cure the ignorance of the fools who think you're a danger to society. Exercise your freedom by serving God, not by breaking the rules. Treat everyone you meet with dignity. Love your spiritiual family, Revere God. Respect the Government.

I Peter 2:9-12 (The Message)

Beautiful sentiment Joy. I have been thinking about this election, all day. I believe that Barack Obama has been chosen by God to lead this nation at this time. I do not know what God has in mind. It may even be a punishment for our people. It may be that we will be in for some very hard times. He may lead our country further away from family values and moral truths. Those that will allow themselves to be thus led. God may be allowing that to make his people get on their knees. I will respect our future president. I may not agree with all that he does, and I will certainly not hide that fact, but I will be respectful and will teach my kids the same. I will most certainly pray that God will bring our nation through these times and will help his people know how to react, without hatred and anger but with faith and trust that God's plan will be fulfilled in the end! Thanks for incuding me on your email list!! Madge

Thank you Joy for stopping by to say hi and let me know you were praying. I can't tell you how much that meant in your note.

I'm still praying about some health issues...and my family...we had a mini reunion with our 5! it's been a long time since we could all get together.

Thanks so much for your concern.

God bless...and good post here...

Indeed we must prove that good and acceptable will of God. Romans 12:1-2

Live a good example of what is right.

I so love your furbaby *smile*. kay said..
we need to respect those in authority, We truly need to be more on our knees then ever before. We can never feel helpless as long as we have the Lord and prayer.

Hi Joy,
Thanks for stopping by my blog a couple of days back! Thanks too for this post. I have really struggled with this election, and the result. I was angry on Wednesday. Really angry and foul tempered! I've always known that I have to pray for our leaders, but this one is a struggle. I've even been telling people (in half joking/half seriousness) that I will stop paying taxes! OK, time for me to take a deep breath and remember what God wants us as Christians to do. And I will. Eventually. hahaha :-)
