Orange You Cute....Not Really

Last week I was reading Ronnica's blog and she was on a little rant about the color orange.

Really, it had nothing to do with the fact she was a OU fan and they were about to play that orange team down in FL.

Anyway I told her about this art that has been added to our community's landscape. We live in one of those... you know "Master-planned - Homeowner Association legislated - over regulated - deed restricted" (you get the idea) communities.

Over the years the town Fathers have selected and purchased for our viewing pleasure, art pieces for us to enjoy while driving on our 35 mph well maintained roads. I guess the art is suppose to make us feel more cultured around here.

Well, one of the latest additions had a lot of people stumped. Look at the picture and see what you think.

A number of letters were written to the local paper about the new construction sign placed in the grassy median. It didn't take long for it to sink into our little community deed restricted brains that our hard earned money in the form of homeowner dues paid for this fine artistic expression.

Wow. That's even more hideous than I imagined.

And you know my first thought? What's inside?

you know what they say....you can't put a price on art!

Hahahaha I am so glad that they do that everywhere. It's amazing what is considered art nowadays.

This is really funny...you write with a lot of humor and wit!

Okay... so I know what you're talking about...we live in a condominium with a homeowners association that's always quarreling with the administration.

That thing...allow me to explain...that is obviously a piece of architectural art. You are supposed to be able to appreciate the architectural form of it...it's place in space and time... :)

that is so funny... seriously, they used your dues for that? I guess everyone is a critic and as the previous post mentioned, you can't put a price on ART... ha ha

That is truly amazing. I would never have believed it if you hadn't posted a picture!

I had one of those "AAARGH SHE'S DRIVING ON THE WRONG SIDE OF THE ROAD - GET OFF THE ROAD JOY, GET OFF THE ROAD!!!" moments but I realised which country we were in and I'm okay now.

I'm always amazed at some of the "art" that is selected by these type groups. I'm sure you gall each and every time you drive by.

Sweet Charity is right about this piece of architectural art. I have to view it for what it is.
I really am ok. with the shape of it. It has grown on me. I mean I like diamonds. That color of orange just make it look so construction siteish.

I will redeem my hood and post some other art pieces that are scattered around here.

Joy--that's exactly what I was thinking. Let's view it in context and see some of the rest of this installation. On its own, though, I would have to give it a thumb's down!!
